Tourism - human, time and space

National scientific conference entitled “Tourism – Man, Time and Space” was held in Cracow on October 27-28, 2022. The conference was organized by the Department of Tourism and Health Resort Management, Institute of Geography and Spatial Management, Jagiellonian University in Cracow under the leadership of dr hab. Mirosław Miki, prof. JU in cooperation with the Geographical Laboratory of Tourism (GeoLabTur). The conference was held under the Honorary Patronage of the Mayor of the City of Krakow, Jacek Majchrowski.

The main purpose of the conference was to present the current results of research related to development of tourism in Poland and around the world. Its dynamics, conditions, as well as the exchange of opinions on the future directions of tourism phenomena.

The conference was officialy launched on October 27 by the Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geology - prof. dr. hab. Marek Drewnik, the Head of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management of the Jagiellonian University - dr hab. Anita Bokwa, prof. JU and by dr hab. Mirosław Mika, prof. JU -  Head of the Department of Tourism and Health Resort Management. The session, which open the conference was devoted to the Professor Jadwiga Warszyńska, who was a co-creator of the Polish school of tourism geography, entitled "Professor Jadwiga Warszyńska - a memory"Prof. dr hab. Antoni Jackowski, prof. dr hab. Jerzy Wyrzykowski and prof. dr hab. Włodzimierz Kurek shared their memories of Professor Warszyńska.

The conference consisted of 9 sessions: 3 plenary sessions on the first day of the conference and 6 parallel thematic sessions on the second day of the conference. On the second day there was also a poster session with a poster presentation. The conference ended with a summary session with a general discussion chaired by prof. dr hab. Andrzej Kowalczyk.

The national scientific conference gathered a total of 84 participants. 44 oral and 1 poster were presented. During the conference, the theme of contemporary problems and research directions in the geography of tourism gathered representatives of several scientific disciplines, including primarily socio-economic geography and spatial management as well as earth sciences. Representatives of 20 research centers in Poland participated in the event.
